Gordon Buchanan: Reindeer Family & Me repeat on BBC Two

Repeating on BBC Two this Saturday 7.10pm.

Gordon Buchanan travels to Finnish Lapland to meet a family from the nomadic Sami culture, who rely on reindeer to help them travel across the frozen wilderness. He learns about the culture's traditional bond with the animals and picks up some tips on surviving during a harsh winter, before he and his reindeer companion undertake a gruelling journey to see the northern lights.

Ben Garrod - Red Ape

For the last decade, a team of frontline medics has been fighting to save Borneo's critically endangered orangutans. Armed with cameras, International Animal Rescue has documented their struggle: pulling apesfrom devastated jungle, giving emergency medical care, rehabilitating and releasing the healthiest orangutans back into the wild. This is both the story of their life-saving work and of how one of our closest wild relatives has been pushed to the brink of extinction.

Combining genuine rescue footage with contributions from experts throughout, this documentary looks toward the future and asks what hope remains to save the orangutan.

Reindeer family and me - Gordon Buchanan

This Christmas, wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan is travelling to the frozen north, deep inside the Arctic Circle, to meet the ancient Sami people and the animals they hold so close - reindeer. Known as the reindeer people, the Sami were traditionally nomadic, relying on their precious animals to help them survive the Arctic's harsh winters.
