
One of Britain’s most loved television presenters, BAFTA award-winning Michaela has been a regular face on our screens for over three decades. After recently reaching ITV’s Dancing on Ice final, Michaela has received high acclaim from both the media and supportive fans alike.
Film Work
Michaela recently set a record on Dancing on Ice as the oldest contestant to reach the final. She proved that age simply is just a number, sharing that ‘It’s been an amazing journey… I’ve done it for the older women!’.
Michaela Strachan is a BAFTA-winning wildlife presenter and beloved TV personality whose career has already spanned over 30 years. Known for her vibrant on-screen personality, Michaela has been a key figure on BBC Two’s Springwatch, Autumnwatch, and Winterwatch for over 12 years. She was also a familiar face on BBC One’s Countryfile for a decade. In 2024, Michaela appeared on the popular series Pilgrimage and also made a surprise cameo appearance on Mandy with Diane Morgan (BBC Two). In 2023, she presented Extreme Conservation in The Maldives and Turkey for BBC World News. Other notable BBC credits include Orangutan Diaries, Orangutan Rescue, Elephant Diaries and One Man and His Dog for BBC Two, and Total Wipeout and Shark Encounters for BBC One. Michaela has been a known face on the BBC for decades, having spent over 15 years fronting the BBC’s award-winning children’s series, The Really Wild Show.
Ice Age, a three-part documentary which Michaela co-presented with Steve Backshall will air on Channel 5 in 2025. In 2023, Michaela presented Swimming in Sewage: Britain’s Water Scandal and Digging for Treasure (Channel 5). Michaela’s Wild Challenge for Channel 5 was a double BAFTA award-winning production; Michaela won the BAFTA for Best Children’s Presenter, and the programme won Best Children’s Factual. Other of Michaela’s programmes for Channel 5 include Michaela’s Zoo Babies, Michaela’s Animal Road Trip, Animal Rescue Squad and Animal Families.
Work for National Geographic and Animal Planet include Safari Live from the Kruger National Park, Adopt a Wild Animal, Postcards from the Wild and Big 5 Little 5, which Michaela presented alongside long-standing friend and presenter Chris Packham. For the Natural History Unit South Africa, Michaela volunteered in a sea bird rescue centre for The Great Penguin Rescue. Other notable credits include Great British Ghosts (Yesterday TV) and Splash and All Star Musicals for ITV.
Michaela’s presenting career began with TV-am’s The Wide-Awake Club with Timmy Mallett, Music Box’s Boogie Box and perhaps most famously, ITV’s The Hitman and Her.

Radio
In 2023, Michaela was a guest on Rufus Hound’s My Teenage Diary (Radio 4) and made a guest appearance on Sounds of the 80s with Gary Davies (Radio 2).
Tour
In 2018, Michaela completed her sell-out tour of the spectacular stage show Walking with Dinosaurs. She played the part of Huxley the palaeontologist and took the audience on a journey covering over 200 million years of dinosaur history. Surrounded by a cast of life-size animatronic dinosaurs, the tour was a hit.

Conservation and Charity Work
Michaela is an ambassador for Breast Cancer Now and supports a range of wildlife charities including The Animal Asia Foundation, The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, The Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation, Secret World, SANCCOB, Home from Home, World Vision, and TEARS.
