Lloyd and his wife Rose live an exceptional life hand-raising, imprinting, and training all types of birds (from starlings and geese to peregrine falcons and eagles) for feature films, documentaries, drama, commercials, and photography projects.
Bird Handlers
Lloyd and Rose Buck live an extraordinary life as renowned avian specialists. The animal behaviourists and handlers live and work alongside the birds they raise, train, and film. From peregrine falcons, eagles, and goshawks to wood mice, their feathered and furry companions have starred in everything from BBC documentaries and high-end commercials to Hollywood productions.
“Looking after our birds is not just our career and job, it’s a lifestyle. We have to be there for them seven days a week. But we absolutely love it,” says Lloyd.
Mice Handlers
Known throughout the industry for their birds, Lloyd and Rose now have two trained wood mice, Sage and Onion, who are suitable for filming on small studio sets.

Other recent work includes the use of their goshawk in series two of Animal (Netflix), and the use of their starlings in the Amazon Christmas advert, as well as in Tiny Worlds (Apple TV). Their hugely popular peregrine falcons were featured on Natural World: Super Fast Falcon (BBC Two).

Earlier credits include Richard Hammond’s Miracles of Nature, Wallander, The Fades, and Deadly 60.
Their birds have also featured in music videos for the band Stornoway, and in adverts for Freederm, the RSPB, Samsung, and Disney.
Presenting Work
Lloyd and Rose have also appeared on-screen themselves. Lloyd is well known to viewers as a bird expert and regular contributor on BBC’s The One Show, as well as Autumnwatch and Springwatch. Lloyd also appeared in the movie documentary Joanna Lumley: The Search for Noah’s Ark, and in the ground-breaking series The Animal’s Guide to Britain. Other on-screen credits include the action-packed science adventure film The Falcon That Flew with Man, Blue Peter, and the extraordinary British wildlife series Will Work for Nuts.
Their unique lifestyle and deep bond with their birds make them beloved contributors to wildlife filmmaking. Their archive footage library is available at Birds in Slow Motion.

In 2018, Lloyd and Rose completed their first-ever theatre show, Our Life with Birds, which they performed again in 2020 as a virtual live stream. The spectacular show finally brought audiences face to face with their extraordinary animals.
