Scientist, explorer, presenter and filmmaker Lizzie Daly is a real-life female action hero. Lizzie is known for her storytelling mastery, adventurous spirit and propensity for pushing both the creative and physical boundaries.

Presenting Work

With on-screen credits spanning BBC One, BBC Two, CBBC, Love Nature, Animal Planet, and Sky TV, to name a few, Lizzie is becoming a recognisable face on our screens.

Lizzie is currently in production for an upcoming animal wildlife series for Channel 4. She recently worked alongside US-based marine experts to explore the marine life of North America for Love Nature series, Deep Dive North America. This comes as a spin-off of Deep Dive Australia which aired on Sky TV in 2024. The latter saw Lizzie traverse Australia to reveal fascinating insights into the continent’s diverse and charismatic marine life.

2024 also saw the release of Jaguar Journals (Love Nature and Sky TV), which follows Lizzie deep into the south of the Pantanal to uncover the lives of the Jaguars that call it home. CBeebies’s Aneeshwar and Lizzie Go Wild also broadcast in late 2024; the series follows Lizzie and young environmental enthusiast Aneeshwar as they meet some amazing animals.

As a wildlife expert with a passion for marine, Lizzie has featured in numerous BBC programmes including BBC One’s The One Show and various BBC Wales films. Other BBC credits include Solved, Weatherman Walking (BBC One) 2020 and 2021 series, Curious Creatures (BBC Two) and Winterwatch (BBC Two). Lizzie was also part of Nature’s Greatest Mysteries for Animal Planet.

Live broadcasting credits include hosting National Geographic’s LIVE Meet the Expert and BBC’s Live Lessons, Winterwatch LIVE and Blue Planet LIVE Lessons.

Filming Work

As an experienced underwater and topside cinematographer, as well as drone operator, Lizzie shoots much of her own content, both for broadcast and for her impressive online community. Her work has taken her solo to some of the planet’s most remote and treacherous terrains, including the Arctic, Antarctica, and the Amazon.

In 2019, during Wild Ocean Week, Lizzie travelled the UK to document and share her extraordinary marine encounters. A film of her diving alongside a giant barrel jellyfish in Cornwall went viral, receiving over 1.3 million views on BBC News’ YouTube channel.

Adventurer

Lizzie has spent a significant amount of time in extreme environments. In particular, she has completed several expeditions to the Arctic circle, both with crew and solo. Highlights included filming musk oxen and killer whales, as well as the opportunity to document the devastating impact of our changing polar environment.

With considerable time spent on expeditions in extreme climates, keeping fit is vital for Lizzie. She recently completed a 140km solo ultramarathon in the Arctic Circle, which saw temperatures reach -35 degrees. Lizzie is also an avid rock climber, kayaker, HSE qualified scuba diver and freediver.

Speaker

Engaging and personable, Lizzie is highly sought-after as a speaker, host and compere. She has hosted interviews at mega-corporations including Google, Adidas and Huawei, and as part of ICUN’s COP26, she interviewed CEOs of major companies and key policymakers, including ex-US Vice President Al Gore. Other influential interviewees include Tom Daly, Steve Backshall, Jane Goodall and Bertie Gregory, to name a few.

Lizzie has also spoken at a wide range of conferences and festivals. These include New Scientist, Norwich Science Festival, Blue Earth Summit, Royal Geographic Society, Northern Ireland Science Festival and Chester Zoo.

In 2020, Lizzie virtually live-hosted the full week of world-leading film festival, Wildscreen, presenting over 50 hours of live content. Since, she has hosted Wildscreen’s prestigious Panda Awards 4 times.

Lizzie’s talks cover themes from pushing the boundaries and being a woman in stem, to adventuring in the wild and making an impact through science and storytelling. Author

2024 saw Lizzie release her first wildlife non-fiction book for children. Life in the Wild, shares the stories of ten incredible animals, including the longest travelled Great White Shark, the oldest living wild bird, and a puma-turned-long-distance-swimmer.

Radio

Lizzie hosted four-part BBC Radio Wales climate change series What If? and was a panellist on BBC Radio 4’sNature Table with Sue Perkins.

Podcasts

Along with Environmental Journalist and Steve Backshall, Lizzie hosts That’s Just Wild an adventurous new podcast diving into the untamed and unpredictable world of nature. Lizzie has also hosted the Country Land and Business Association’s podcast, was featured on the Where to Go podcast by DK Eyewitness and appeared in a captivating episode of Ty Temel’s YouTube series, Off Script Podcast.

Education

Lizzie is nearing the completion of her PhD, within which she is using tag technology to better understand the fine-scale movements of wild animals in changing landscapes.

Lizzie was recently awarded an honorary doctorate in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to conservation, science communication and exploration. She is also an Academic Teaching and Outreach Fellow at Swansea University.

Conservation

As a dedicated conservationist, Lizzie is deeply committed to caring for our oceans and protecting our wild spaces. She is an ambassador for the Marine Conservation Society, the Jane Goodall Institute UK, the first ever female patron of ORCA, and an ambassador for the Norwich Science Festival.
