Libby is an award-winning wildlife filmmaker, camera operator, and magnetic presenter known for her fresh and fearless approach to environmental storytelling. From ice climbing on national TV to investigating body image with Love Island star Anton Danyluk, Libby is a dynamic presence both behind and in front of the camera.

Directing Work

In 2023, Libby was named BBC Scotland’s Emerging Director.

Libby is a commanding storyteller with broad technical abilities that allow her to direct, shoots and edit independently for broadcast. Her 30-minute documentary Shooting Animals (STV Player) garnered national attention on World Environment Day and was awarded Best Documentary at the Scottish Short Film Festival. The film features an array of scientists, conservationists and activists, including fellow Scottish wildlife filmmaker, Gordon Buchanan. The film was later screened at Wilderland, the UK’s number one touring wildlife film festival. Libby also presented clips from the film at a live COP26 event.

Libby recently self-shot and directed a documentary about mental health and body image with Scottish Love Island Star Anton Danyluk on Body Shame. She continues to be a highly in-demand shooting Producer/Director and commercial GVC CAA Drone Operator.

Presenting Work

As a presenter, Libby brings high energy and authenticity to the screen, and was the 2022 NatGeo / Wildscreen ‘On Screen Talent’ pitch winner.

Libby makes regular presenting appearances on Landward, Winterwatch and Springwatch. She has also fronted two episodes of the wildlife conservation show Back from the Brink (BBC Scotland/Tern TV), and presented a 30-minute film for the John Muir Trust, exploring deer management and climate change. Libby has also appeared on BBC Scotland’s The Adventure Show, where was seen ice climbing and cave kayaking. Libby’s natural warmth and dynamic energy make her popular with audiences of all ages.

In the digital space, Libby has amassed millions of views for her work, including on a short documentary about dyslexia, which she shot with her twin sister Pip. Libby and Pip have appeared together in several online Visit Scotland adverts, as well as on screen for BBC Scotland.

Speaking

An energetic and engaging speaker, Libby has spoken at numerous organisations, schools and universities. In 2024, Libby interviewed Steve Backshall live on stage at the Cheltenham Science Festival.

Education

Libby holds a 1st class degree in Film Production and was the winner of the Edinburgh Napier University medal. She also holds a master’s degree with distinction in Wildlife Documentary Production from Salford University. Libby obtained her master’s degree on the prestigious ‘Dewars Art Scholarship’, which supports ‘Scotland’s brightest and best’.

Interests

Libby is a dedicated and passionate environmentalist and an ambassador for Bafta’s ALBERT and Nature Scot, both for whom she has created a series of social media videos. Libby is deeply passionate about making the outdoors accessible and engaging for all.

Background

As a teenager, Libby started out filming skateboarders and BMXers at her local skatepark (subject of a BBC Sounds podcast and video). The skill of filming fast-moving skateboarders taught her the vital camera skills she now uses in the wild when filming equally fast-moving and unpredictable animals.
