For 30 years, wildlife filmmaker and presenter Gordon Buchanan has been leading daring expeditions and pushing the boundaries to raise awareness of the world’s most endangered species and habitats. Now a Sunday Times best-selling author, as well as having recently completed his UK tour of Lions and Tigers and Bears, Gordon is as in demand as ever.



Film work

Best known for his powerful storytelling and deep commitment to conservation, Gordon has contributed to countless award-winning wildlife films and documentaries. He has dedicated his career to bringing awareness to the planet’s most endangered species.

In 2024, Gordon co-presented the first series of Big Cats 24/7 alongside Anna Dimitriadis and Vianet Djenguet, which launched on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in August 2024. Series two, which is currently in production, will be broadcast in August 2025. In 2023, Gordon featured in the groundbreaking BBC One series, Our Changing Planet, a long-term environmental project tracking the fight to save Earth’s threatened ecosystems.

Gordon has presented BBC Two’s famous Family & Me series since it began in 2016 with Elephant Family & Me. He has since presented Cheetah Family & Me, Snow Cats & Me, and Gorilla Family & Me, alongside many others. Gordon received a prestigious Royal Television Society award for his presenting work on both The Polar Bear Family & Me and The Bear Family & Me.

Gordon won two Royal Television Society (RTS) Scotland awards for Snow Dogs into the Wild: On Screen Personality and Camera (craft), which aired in 2022 (BBC Two). Other BBC productions of Gordon’s include Animals with Cameras, Equator from the Air, Life in Polar Bear Town, the highly acclaimed Tribes, Predators and Me series, Life in the Snow and Super Cute Animals. 

Other popular TV credits of Gordon’s include Land of the Lost Wolves, Lost Land of the Tiger, Lost Land of the Volcano and Lost Land of the Jaguar. Into the Wild was another popular series which saw Gordon connect celebrities, including Alastair Campbell, Dermot O’Leary and Sara Cox, with Britain’s beautiful wildlife.

Tour

Gordon recently embarked on his biggest ever live tour, Lions and Tigers and Bears. The tour saw Gordon perform to over 25,000 people as he shared remarkable stories from the field, including thrilling encounters with pandas, grizzly bears, tigers and jaguars. Gordon shared countless heart-stopping moments and a few of the tender interactions that have shaped his extraordinary career.

In 2022 and 2023, Gordon went on tour with his theatre show, 30 Years in the Wild. The tour received rave reviews and saw him perform to packed venues across the UK.

Author

2025 has also seen the release of Gordon’s non-fiction book, In the Hide. The book has received high praise, making it to number 8 on the iconic Sunday Times Bestsellers List.

Podcast

In 2024, Beneath the Baobab, returned for a second season. In this podcast series, Gordon explores conservation work being led by communities around the world.

Awards and Honours

Gordon was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 New Year Honours, for services to conservation and wildlife filmmaking. Gordon has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Stirling, and an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, in recognition of services to the society and to the wider discipline of geography. Gordon is also a patron for the Environmental Justice Foundation.
