Toby Sawday
Publisher & TV Presenter
Toby has recently made his screen debut as co-presenter on BBC2’s second series of Its Not Easy Being Green. He became a green guru while working as Sustainability Manager for the travel guide and environmental publisher Alistair Sawday’s and has subsequently become a judge on The Times Green Spaces travel awards.
With a background in Human Geography and Sustainable Development, Toby has worked in organisations such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, The Guardian, ICI and Triodos Bank, where he explored the difficulties encountered when sustainability is put into practice.
Toby’s passion is in communicating ethical ideas in a non-preaching way. He writes and talks on green business practice, responsible (low carbon and slow) travel and has a wide range of experience in ethical approaches to a range of issues from holidays and transport, to food and buildings. Toby is currently launching Sawday's ‘Ethical Collection Scheme’ to accredit and celebrate B&Bs, hotels and cottages around the world that are tackling their social and environmental impacts, and he continues to develop new business ideas for the company.
As an eloquent public speaker, Toby is a popular choice for many kinds of corporate and educational events where the focus is sustainability for the future.
