Dr David Kenyon is a military historian and archaeologist. He is one of the UK’s leading experts on the archaeology of the First World War, and has developed a career as an archaeologist, presenter and consultant for several television archaeological series, (most notably the Trench Detectivesseries, currently showing on History channel, in addition to work for BBC TV and radio.) His work has seen him excavating sites in the UK and as far afield as Syria and Libya. Over the last ten years, David has directed excavations on more Great War battlefields than anyone else in the UK, and is one of the world’s leading experts in this field. David has lectured at the National Army Museum, UK Defence Academy and various universities, as well as to local groups and societies.
David’s other major interest and area of expertise is horses, and the history of cavalry. He has contributed to both film and TV productions, as a horse rider and expert. Previous film and television projects have ranged from Arthurian knight, via the English Civil War, 18th Century and Napoleonic periods, to the Great War. This work has led to involvement in a variety of television and radio productions, as presenter and consultant.
Notably, David has recently finished as military advisor for a big-name feature film due for release in 2011. He has also organised historical cavalry reconstruction projects in the UK, France, Belgium, Spain, Germany and Ukraine. His new book on the British Cavalry in the First World War is due for publication in 2011.
