With an incredible backlog of adventures including hitchhiking around the world in a kilt, selling jewellery in Saudi Arabia and mining opals in Australia, Adam McIntosh has come a long way from his school years’ business – selling itching powder and electric shock macs to his classmates.
Born in Scotland, Adam spent his childhood in Papua New Guinea where he lived next to a volcano and where shells were used as currency. It was here he developed his love for shells and gems. Coming back to Scotland, he built his own tree house and lived in it at the age 14 - widely covered in the media it soon became a popular stop-off for the rich and famous. He burned the tree house down four years later in order to begin a hitchhiking trip around the world, briefly modelling for Tommy Hilfiger when in New York.
Building on his love for craft and jewellery, in 2004 Adam set up a fairtrade workshop in India before returning to Scotland in order to build his second tree house. Adam mines his own stones for his jewellery ranges and is a regular at jewellery parties and festivals. He won the Greenpeace award for ‘Greenest Trader on Site’ at the Glastonbury Festival and his work has featured in National Trust Museums and art galleries. Adam’s amazing wealth of life experience and charisma would make him the ideal choice as a presenter or public speaker.
