Ian and Barbara Pollard – Gardeners and Naturists
Ian and Brabara Pollard bought Abbey House in 1994 and decided to create a garden that might attract visitors from around the world to the historic town of Malmesbury.
They’ve regularly appeared in numerous television programmes from BBC 2’s Meet the Ancestors in 1997, ITV’s Going to Work Naked in 2004 to Gordon Ramsay’s Cookalong for Channel 4 in 2008. When they featured in BBC Gardener’s World Alan Titchmarsh said of their garden “The WOW! Factor is here in abundance”.
But why The Naked Gardeners? For Ian and Barbara being naked is the most natural thing in the world and, when appropriate, they will often work in the gardens without clothes.
Both Ian and Barbara are very popular public speakers and manage to amuse as well as educate audiences of all ages. They have written a beautifully illustrated book The Naked Gardeners and are currently developing a major television series.
